Lighthouse Gospel Church – Intelligent Lighting from a Single 13A Supply
Constraint-led design, pre-production and modern LED efficiency
The challenge
Lighthouse Gospel Church needed production support for an event staged inside a cinema. The environment presented an unusual combination of constraints: black walls, a dark floor, no useful reflective ceiling, a band, choir and pastor, a short approximately two-and-a-half-hour load-in and extremely limited available power.
The thinking
The practical challenge was to create an effective live environment without designing a production that the venue could not physically support. Rather than treating the limitations as reasons to reduce the ambition of the event, Comtec designed around them.
The solution
Modern LED fixtures dramatically reduced the power requirement. Careful fixture selection, positioning and programming allowed the lighting design to work with the dark cinema environment rather than fight against it.
The production was extensively prepared before arriving on site. Fixtures and control were planned and programmed in the warehouse so valuable venue time could be spent installing, checking and refining rather than starting from a blank lighting desk.
The final approach combined efficient intelligent LED lighting, carefully managed power, pre-production and a control strategy designed specifically around the venue and available load-in time.
The result
The event delivered the atmosphere and visual support required for the band, choir, pastor and congregation despite the unusual venue constraints. It also demonstrated that a professional solution does not necessarily begin by asking for more infrastructure. Sometimes it begins by understanding exactly what is available and designing intelligently around it.
Comtec principle
Constraints do not automatically mean compromise. Good production starts by understanding the problem and designing the right solution for that environment.
