Comtec Presentations make donations to several charities through out the year. By contributing a little every week the amount for donation quickly builds up. In the past year we have donated to charities such as the Guide Dog Appeal and Shelter.
BBC Children in Need
For the last 2 years, in collaboration with the Elite League’s Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Team, Comtec Presentations has designed and commissioned a special edition Children in Need ‘Pudsey’ shirt for the entire squad.
Our media department set about designing a special shirt to raise money for the ‘Children in Need’ appeal with co-operation from BBC Manchester. Two years running, the shirts were worn for a home game in November. After the games each player signed their shirt, and the shirts were sold on an auction website. Thanks to the support from the Manchester Phoenix fans a total of £2121.00 was raised in 2008, and £2500.00 was raised in 2009.
Thanks to their fundraising efforts the BBC invited the Manchester Phoenix team to take part in their Children In Need celebrations, where the squad presented the charity with a giant novelty cheque designed by the Media Department of Comtec Presentations.
On behalf of Comtec Presentations and the Manchester Phoenix – we would like to say a big thank you to all supporters for their generous donations.
Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital
In 2009, the Royal Manchester (Pendlebury) and Booth Hall Children’s Hospitals relocated to a brand new state-of-the-art children’s hospital in Central Manchester. The New Children’s Hospital Appeal was started to help ensure the new hospital, which will be the biggest children’s hospital in the UK, was to have the very best equipment available; and to provide accommodation so that parents can stay with their child during treatment.
Comtec signed up to raise £1,000 for the appeal as part of the ‘Many Hands’ campaign. The campaign aimed at attracting 250 companies; each of which vowed to try their best to raise £250,000 together.
As part of the fundraising, Comtec entered a team of runners into the 2009 Great Manchester Run. All of the runners completed the race in under 1 hour 30 minutes and, through sponsorship, the team raised over £500 for the charity.
Dunnington Pantomime Group
In December 2008, Comtec Presentations donated a selection of equipment to the Dunnington Pantomime Group.
The local amateur dramatic group’s Christmas production was their first village pantomime in 12 years. Comtec's contribution aided the cast and crew in producing a true community event, and meant that the group could "aspire to professional standards on a budget which was both limited and uncertain."
For four years running Comtec Presentations, official sponsors of the Manchester Phoenix, have helped spread festive cheer to hundreds of children that were spending the Christmas period in Hospital.
In 2009, children at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital were greeted by the stars of the Manchester Phoenix squad (as well as Comtec M.D. Neil Morris), dressed as an army of Santas. Each of the Santas had bags full of presents for the children, which were donated by the clubs supporters, as well as from a collection made by Comtec Presentations. Prior to the opening of the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, the Santas would descend upon the Pendlebury and Booth Hall Children’s Hospitals.
Staff Charity Fund
For over 5 years, staff at Comtec Presentations have participated in a weekly ‘Dress Down Day’. The staff donate directly from their wages to a charity fund, raising around £150 per quarter. This total is added to by Comtec, and £250 per quarter is donated to a charity or cause chosen by the staff.
Comtec staff are actively encouraged to get involved with fundraising and sponsorship activities, and the charity fund is often used to sponsor team members raising money for a good cause.
