Many Hand’s Campaign

In 2009 Comtec signed up to raise £1,000 for the Manchester New Children’s Hospital as part of their Many Hands campaign. The campaign aims to gain 250 companies each of which vow to try their best to raise £250,000 together.

As part of the fundraising, Comtec put a team of runners into the 2009 Great Manchester Run. All of the runners completed the race in under 1 hour 30 minutes and, through sponsorship, the team raised over £500 for the charity.

In December last yearComtec Presentations donated a selection on equipment to the Dunnington Pantomime Group. The local amateur dramatic groups Christmas production was their first village pantomime in 12 years. Comtec's contribution aided the cast and crew in producing a true community event and meant they could "aspire to professional standards on a budget which was both limited and uncertain." Children at Pendlebury and Booths Hall Children’s Hospitals were greeted with the stars of the Manchester Phoenix squad dressed as an army of Santa’s. Each of the Santa’s had bags full of presents for the children donated by the clubs supporters as well as from a collection made by Comtec Presentations.

Neil Morris, Managing Director of Comtec, was one of the Father Christmas's that attended the hospital visits with the players. He said ‘I have been involved in the Christmas Toy appeal for a number of year’s and think its important to give something to those less fortunate especially at this time of year. It’s great that we can get Comtec involved as a major sponsor of the club.’

Comtec helped facilitate the visits by providing the squad with its Santa outfits. Furthermore, a number of Comtec staff were happy to take any unwrapped donations and wrap and label each of them by age and gender.

Comtec Presentations and the Manchester Phoenix squad would like to thank everyone for the presents they donated.

This year, in collaboration with the Elite League’s Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Team, Comtec Presentations designed and commisioned a special edition Children in Need Pudsey shirt for the entire squad.
Our media department set about designing a special shirt to raise money for the ‘Children in Need’ appeal with co-operation from BBC Manchester. The shirts were worn by the team at their home game on Sunday 9th November against the Sheffield Steelers. After the game each player signed their shirt before being sold on an auction website. Thanks to the support from the Manchester Phoenix fans a grand total of £2121.00 was raised for the appeal.
Thanks to their fundraising efforts the BBC invited the Manchester Phoenix team to take part in their Children In Need celebrations, where the squad presented the charity with a giant novelty cheque designed by the Media Department of Comtec Presentations.

On behalf of Comtec Presentations and the Manchester Phoenix – we would like to say a big thank you to all supporters for their generous donations.

Guide Dog Appeal
Sponsor a dog and change a life forever.
Megan - The Guide Dog   Megan - The Guide Dog   Megan - The Guide Dog

At just six weeks old, Megan - this tiny bundle of fur is just like any other puppy: playful, mischievous and full of life.

In around 20 months time, your puppy will become one of the most responsible dogs in the country when it becomes a fully qualified working guide dog – a life-changing addition to somebody’s life.  By sponsoring a pup for its first 20 months of training, you’ll help it learn all the skills needed to be a second pair of eyes for a blind or partially-sighted person.

£1 a week will support a puppy through all the ups and downs of its training, and help someone to live a more independent life forever. You see, once we partner a guide dog with a blind or partially-sighted person, we promise to ensure that person has a guide dog for as long as needed – this means, in some cases, as many as seven guide dogs!

‘We could effectively sponsor 4-5 pups with the donation amount we have at the end of
the year, however if we donate every 6 months then we could sponsor at least 2 dogs.’

The Starlight Children's Foundation

Starlight Children's Foundation brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment to help take their minds off the pain, fear and isolation of their illness.

When Starlight began in 1987, we helped just 4 children; this year, we will help over 500,000 children all over the UK. Where possible, mums, dads, brothers and sisters are involved to strengthen family bonds at what is often a time of great stress and give everyone happy memories to share, no matter what the future may hold. Starlight receives neither Government nor Lottery support.
If Starlight had just one wish itself, it would be that cures could be found for all the terrible illnesses that can afflict children. Until then, we will continue to provide important medicines of another sort: excitement, fun and laughter.
Special Care Baby Unit

The special Care Baby Unit Fundraising Society is a registered charity founded in 1982 with the prime objective to supply critical lifesaving equipment for the Regional Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit, Hope Hospital in Manchester.

The unit is a centre of caring for over 400 babies annually from the North West along with transporting babies when needed from all other parts of England.  Many of the babies are sent from other Units in need of the highly specialised care that is given in our Regional Unit.  Some of our babies weigh as little as 500 grams.  They need the very best specialised life-saving equipment and very highly qualified staff to look after them with one to one nursing.

Your donation will make a difference as we are hoping to continue to supply crucial life-saving equipment, including heart monitors and resuscitation equipment helping to save babies lives.  They are a completely independent charity, advised only by The Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit’s own medical team.

‘Just remember there is a little baby somewhere who would like to say ‘thank you’, but does not know how to.

Shelter

Shelter was founded in 1966, during a time of public outcry about homelessness and bad housing in Britain.

Shelter helps more than 170,000 people a year fight for their rights, get back on their feet, and find and keep a home.

Shelter's vision is that everyone should have a home - somewhere decent, safe, affordable and permanent.  Yet one in seven children in Britain are growing up in bad housing, and thousands of homeless households are stuck in temporary accommodation.

Shelter has developed a three-year strategy with ten ambitious aims and objectives.
